Audi Q3 (8U) 2011-2018 Service Manual / Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning / Air Conditioning / Actuators / Recirculation Door Motor -V113-, Removing and Installing

Recirculation Door Motor -V113-, Removing and Installing, Manual Climate Control System (or Heater without A/C System)

  Note

  • The color-coded connecting elements on the actuator for the identification has been discontinued as a running change as of 10/2013 for those connecting elements installed by the manufacturer and delivered as a replacement part. Additionally the connecting elements are no longer preinstalled on actuators that are delivered as a replacement part. Refer to → Chapter "Actuator Information" and the Parts Catalog.
  • The actuators and the associated connecting elements differ. In some cases, however, the differences are so small that they are not always easy to detect at first glance. If a different version of the actuator or a connecting element is installed than the designated version, it usually leads to problems when the basic setting is to be performed. Refer to → Chapter "Actuator Information" and the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

  Caution

Problems with the Air Conditioning (A/C) system (heater) function after installing the incorrect version of components

  • Different actuator versions can only be distinguished by their part number on the outside.
  • The connecting elements are to some extent very similar and are not always easy to detect at first glance.
  • If possible, only install an actuator if the new component to be installed is available with the related connecting element.
  • Before installing, make sure that the actuator is the right one and the connecting element being installed is correctly allocated.
  • If possible, only dispose of the removed components after having checked the function of the newly installed components.

Removing

- Note the general information. Refer to → Chapter "Actuator Information".

- Remove the glove compartment. Refer to → Body Interior; Rep. Gr.68; Storage Compartments and Covers; Glove Compartment, Removing and Installing.

- Free up the wire.

- Release the tabs and remove the bracket toward the rear.

Audi Q3. A87-0690

- Remove the actuator -1- from the recirculation door shaft -arrow-.

- Mark the connector and the actuator.

- Disconnect the connector -1-.

Audi Q3. A87-11170

Installing

Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following:

- In the event of problems with moisture in the passenger compartment, also check the recirculation door, which must close completely.

- The actuator mount can only be installed on the shaft in the position "recirculation door opened".

- Pry out the connecting element (here the toothed gear -A-) from the actuator to be replaced (or select from the set of connecting elements) and install in the new actuator to be installed. Refer to → Chapter "Actuator Information".

  • The gear -A- must contact the stop -B- as shown.

  Note

If the gear does not stand the stop, the mount in the actuator must be turned. Note the general information. Refer to → Chapter "Actuator Information".

- Connect the connector -A-.

Audi Q3. A87-0694

- Position the actuator on the air intake housing with the recirculation door opened. While doing so, the recirculation door shaft must engage in the mount.

  • So that the toothed gear on the actuator -A- can be slid onto the toothed gear of back pressure door, the short tooth -C- of the actuator toothed gear must align with short tooth interval -D- of toothed gear on the shaft of the back pressure door -B-.
  • There must not be any play in the connection between the adjustment motor and the shaft.

Audi Q3. A87-0695

- Mount the bracket on the air intake housing, so that the guide engages into the mount.

- The bracket tabs must audibly engage on the air intake housing.

- Install the wiring harness -F- so that it cannot come in contact with any moving parts (for example, the lever on the motor).

- Install the glove compartment. Refer to → Body Interior; Rep. Gr.68; Storage Compartments and Covers; Glove Compartment, Removing and Installing.

After completing the repair work, perform the following operations on the control head using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function:

- Check the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory and delete any currently displayed entries.

- Perform the basic setting.

- Perform output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM).

Removing

- Note the general information. Refer to → Chapter "Actuator Information".

- Remove the glove compartment. Refer to → Body Interior; Rep. Gr.68; Storage Compartments and Covers; Glove Compartment, Removing and Installing.

- Remove the bolts -B-.

- Remove the actuator -A- from the curved washer shaft -F- for the recirculation door.

- Mark the connector and the actuator.

- Disconnect the connector -C-.

Installing

Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following:

- In the event of problems with moisture in the passenger compartment, also check the recirculation door, which must close completely.

Audi Q3. A87-10282

- Check the operation and function of recirculation door -C- and the fresh air door -B- by rotating curved washer -A-; while doing this, make sure the pins installed on the levers are seated properly in the grooves of curved washer -A-.

Audi Q3. A87-10283

- The mount -F- for the actuator -A- can only be installed in one position on the shaft -E- for the recirculation door.

  • The adjustment motor mount must be opposite the shaft as shown in the illustration.

  Note

Turn the mount in the actuator if the mount and the shaft do not align. Note the general information. Refer to → Chapter "Actuator Information".

- Connect the connector -A-.

- Attach the adjustment motor to the air distribution door so that the back pressure door shaft reaches into the mount.

  • There must not be any play in the connection between the adjustment motor and the shaft.

- Tighten the screws -B- to specification (tightening specification: 1 Nm).

- Route the wiring harness -G- so that it cannot come in contact with any moving parts (for example, the actuator lever).

- Install the glove compartment. Refer to → Body Interior; Rep. Gr.68; Storage Compartments and Covers; Glove Compartment, Removing and Installing.
